A Philippine Fiesta is like nothing else in the
world. Other countries have fiestas - but they
are sedate and sober affairs in comparison with
the variety found in the Philippine Islands. The
Fiesta, in theory, is a religious procession held
in honour of the local patron saint - in practise,
it combines the excitement of an English Cup final,
a Spanish bull-fight, and a Chinese New Year Festival
into a memorable morning of noise and colour.
The patron saint is the early Pope and martyr,
St. Clement.
