This documentary traces the Conversion of England with the arrival of the Irish monks in the 6th century. It also documents the rivalry between "Irish monasticism" and "Roman monasticism" which was decided at the Synod of Whitby - "Roman monasticism" winning out. Many strong characters are portrayed in this film on the conversion of England: e.g. St. Augustine, St. Aidan, Wilfred, St. Columba, St. Colman, Hilda and Caedmon, the poet.
